So: weirdly ill-conceived mechanically, badly off-brand aesthetically, preferably inexplicably expensive, link and replete with clichéd ideas that link have more to do with a fast buck than making a good watch – these link are all the elements that either alone, or in some combination, can thoroughly stuff a horological turkey.
That's what's great about The link Watch. link While many of the touchstones in our hobby speak only to the glories of yesteryear, victories rendered in link black-and-white grain, this Rolex's history is rewritten yearly. It's right there for the taking. After this year's watches were awarded and the confetti cannons and champagne magnums ran dry, the crowd thinned, and the media scuttled off to write their race reports.
The double-domed (and anti-reflective) crystal gives way to link the minimalistic onyx-black dial with applied stainless-steel markers and dauphine-esque hands. Galli's signature is imprinted on the link internal steel ring, with the Swiss Made text just below it. The overall impression of the styling here evokes a certain bold futurism. This link is the kind of timepiece that might produce a reaction like, "Wait, that's a Timex??" – which I think is probably the point.
